cords.studio
cords.studio was founded in Toronto, ON, and has been operating since 2019. From 2019 to 2025, it ran under the name Ceren Kaptan Design as a sole proprietorship. The business initially offered interior design services and gradually expanded its offerings over the years. In its early stages, the company focused primarily on interior design, tailoring its operations to support that core service.
In 2021, the founder’s strong background in industrial design—particularly furniture design—led to a strategic shift toward product design services. That same year, the business secured its first major contract with the well-known furniture and home décor brand MOE'S Home Collection, recognized for its modern and contemporary designs. This contract marked a turning point and the beginning of a series of successful partnerships within the home furnishings industry. Under this collaboration, the studio designed furniture pieces that are now available through major distributors such as Anthropologie, ELTE, AllModern, Lighthouse, and more.
Meanwhile, demand for interior design services continued to grow steadily. In response, the company adopted a partnership model in 2025 to better manage operational and creative responsibilities. This partnership was formed between two individuals who had also joined in a lifelong union as a family in 2018. Following this transition, the business officially became a family-run enterprise and is currently revising its mission and vision to reflect this new chapter.
